Hendon Rotary installs new President for 2011-2012

Every year Rotary Clubs throughout the world elect their new leaders.

Ayo Oyebade is the new President of our Club.

He is supported by the new President Elect Alex Ayodeji. Our Secretary  Laurence Winston has taken the position on again and Past President Maurice Balfe is continuing to be the Club Treasurer.

Chain OFF and chain ON – After a very successful year, Maurice Balfe hands over the chain of office and “property to be taken care of” to the incoming President.

The famous Vase! It was a present from our Contact Club  in France and reputedly is worth ‘a lot’!

The new President will also have to find room for a few hundred of the flags you see in the background  of the picture. Our club is over 80 years old and it has been – and still is – a tradition that when a visiting Rotarian comes from overseas or a member of our club visits another club abroad that they exchange flags of their clubs. So you can well imagine that we have tons of flags stored in boxes. Every week we have about a dozen on our table on small flag stands to remind us of ‘visits to other clubs’.
